Requirements for your photos
Because the quality we can print is limited by the quality of your original photo, it is important for you to understand some basic guidlines for your photo. For instance, we can not blow up a wallet sized photo to a 24x36 inch canvas print. Nor can we print a digital image saved from the web at any size.

Digital Photos
Do not print out a digital photo and mail it to us to scan. This is because our ability to create a quality canvas print will be limited by the quality of your printer. If you want us to make a print from a picture you took with a digital camera, you can just upload the file to our server.
Your photos should be taken with your camera set at the highest setting to create the largest files possible. If you make any adjustments to the picture with photo editing software (such as photoshop), make sure to save the file as a jpg or tiff with no compression.
How large of a canvas print we can make from your image is dependant on the quality of your camera. The larger the file size, the bigger the canvas print we can make. Here is a basic guide:
resolution size |
900x1200 |
1200x1600 |
1800x2600 |
print size |
12x16 |
16x20 |
24x36 |
(Do not enlarge or increase the resolution of a photo in Photoshop to get a larger file size)
This is just a basic guide. Some photographs will look fine at larger sizes than the chart above allows. Some photographs that are highly detailed need a much higher resolution, and must be printed at a smaller size. The better the quality (clarity) of the photo and the larger or more prominent the main theme or person(s) in the photo, the better the quality of the finished product.
When a digital photo is uploaded to our website the resolution of the image will automatically be measured at the requested print size. A warning will show if the resolution is lower than the resolution minimum we recommend for that particular size. If you receive this warning, we recommend trying your image at a smaller print size.

Traditional Photos
The quality of the image we can obtain from photographs taken from a film camera are in direct correlation with the size of the developed photograph. We can basically blow up a photograph 4 times the size of the original. For example, we can enlarge a regular 4x6 photo to a 16x24 canvas print and maintain decent quality. Our scanner can scan a photo up to 8.5x11 inches.
Of course, the larger the photograph you send us, the better print we can make. And as with digital photo, the better the quality (clarity) of the photo and the larger or more prominent the main theme or person(s) in the photo, the better the quality of the finished product.
